Transportation Infrastructure Progress Continues

The River District Neighborhood Investors (RDNI) team, with the support of the Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority, continues to work in partnership to ensure that transportation infrastructure serves the common goal of efficiency and safety for all residents and visitors.
Key results of this partnership include the development of a new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane that will provide “front door” access for district residents and connect other communities across the New Orleans area to the River District.
The project’s Master Plan provides a design approach that prioritizes pedestrian and bicycle accessibility and establishes safe and complete systems of access to all forms of transportation. We will expand the traffic management plan to highlight dedicated access for pedestrians and cyclists. These steps will support long-term efforts to maintain and promote a walkable
neighborhood for all.

- The River District team is preparing for lane closures on Tchoupitoulas St. between Orange St. and Henderson St. and on Religious St. between Henderson St. and Race St. An official announcement and details are expected in late November.
- The Boh team
began installing the StormTrap stormwater management system in early November, with plans to complete the major components by the end of the month.

We're excited to welcome Liberty Bank to their new home on Tchoupitoulas St., adding further excitement and momentum to the growth of this long-underused corridor. Welcome to the neighborhood!

The River District will include a central hub and first stop for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on the East Bank as the City and its transportation partners continue to develop plans for this new bus transport. The River District team continues to coordinate with New Orleans’ Regional Transit Authority to ensure that public transportation—specifically BRT and potential future connections for the Riverfront streetcar line—is incorporated and integrated into the plans.
